I'm sure plenty of people have done this, but my husband and I like to think we are the creators of this delicious and cleansing ginger and parsley orange juice drink using fresh ginger and fresh parsley. Yum!
Benefits of ginger include:
Benefits of parsley include:
For the drink this morning we used orange juice from concentrate and added water. You can dilute your OJ with more water and ice if you're concerned about "drinking your calories" but more water and ice will make for less of an OJ taste and will be a bit more un-palatable. You can also use fresh squeezed OJ.
For two servings with leftovers for the kids (and yes, my kids drink this) we do about 1/4 of a frozen concentrate OJ juice can. Add water and ice, Add a 1/2 to a full bunch of of fresh curly parsley and a thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger. I love the spiciness of ginger, but if you have more conservative tastebuds, then use less ginger. Always err on the side of caution when trying a new flavor. You can always add more ginger and parsley and re-blend!
Blend well and enjoy!
Other variations we do with this drink include adding other greens like spinach or celery in addition to the parsley and ginger. I also like to add some probiotics to turn it into a probiotic drink!

First, it is brussels sprouts- yes, with an s.
If you haven't tried roasted brussels sprouts go right now to your grocery store and get some for tonight's dinner. They are too easy, yummy and nutritious to not make a frequent appearance in your family's dinners. Brussels are packed with nutrition too. Per 1 cup there is 38 calories, 3.3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein! 1 cup will also give you 124% of your daily value of Vitamin C.
Few people know or even care about what the plant of the brussels looks like, but for your educational enjoyment here it is:
One of my favorite ways to season brussels is with oil, salt and pepper, crushed red pepper and powdered parmesan cheese, but the other night I went for a slightly sweeter version with apples and honey.
I tossed these brussels and pink lady apples with olive oil, salt, pepper and honey and roasted at 425 for about 25 mins. I think next time I'll try it with a little balsamic vinegar too.
Easy Brussels Side:
My apologies for vague measurements, but it's usually how I roll in the kitchen.
Brussels Sprouts, halved lengthwise
Pink Lady apples, large chop
Extra Virgin Olive oil
Sea salt and pepper
Toss together in a large bowl, spread on pan and roast at 425 for about 25 mins.
I've already expressed how much I like Nordstrom's activewear line, Zella and these pants are again no exception AND double bonus, they are a super steal right now with the Nordstrom's half yearly sale!
I rate my activewear on a Fit, Feel, Function basis. Here's how these pants rate:
FIT: 10 out of 10
No gaping at the waist, and they stay put.
FEEL: 10 out of 10
These are soft and move with me. Sometimes I like a little more compression, but for low impact activities these are perfect
FUNCTION: 9 out of 10
The tag on these say that they are for all types of activities, and I would mostly agree on that but I think they are more for low impact exercise since they don't have the compression I would want for high-impact. If the tag said something like "for yoga and studio workouts" I would have rated a 10.
